Intimate Partner Violence
Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) can consist of many forms of abuse—namely, physical, sexual, and emotional. In Dinotopia, it is considered that what one does in one’s own home should be resolved independently. The sphere of the ‘home’ often extends to family and even neighborhoods. If the abuse becomes obvious enough that it cannot be ignored, oftentimes the abuser will be taken aside and told to keep his or her (in over 80% of the cases, his) business to him/herself.
Furthermore, it is generally held that the victim takes the abuse upon him or herself by not leaving.
